Help Needed For Wyoming Billboard!

Angel Acres

Hay, We Need It!

HELP URGENTLY NEEDED!

donate to angel acres

We just got word that the group United Horsemen has issued a newsletter full of "information" for their readers - click here to read their newsletter. (See my reply to their original email to Angel Acres and their "rescue plans" - HERE.)

In my opinion, they have been able to package horse slaughter to the non horse savvy public to appear as a public service that benefits horses and provides a service to horse owners.

Horses suffer at every step of the process - from transport to killing floor - many anti slaughter websites have undercover video of the horrors & inhumane treatment taking place at slaughter plants in Canada and Mexico.

We have been offered a billboard in Wyoming in a well traveled location and we have the opportunity to let the folks in Wyoming know that horse slaughter is NOT humane - We need YOUR help getting it up!

We believe this location will make a major impact on the pro slaughter lobby's efforts to hide the true horror of horse slaughter by using terminology like "processing", "rendering", "harvesting".

We have been watching the hits to the billboards companion website Stop Slaughtering US increase DAILY everywhere there is a billboard up! This means we ARE making an impact and raising awareness, one state at a time.

Horse slaughter is NOT harvesting, processing, rendering; it is horrifically and brutally slaughtering innocent horses who have given their lives (in more cases than not) for their owners.

The Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter Awareness Campaign is a grassroots effort designed to change that, one driver and one billboard at a time. This one is URGENT - PLEASE HELP by DONATING today!

We receive no federal, state or corporate funding for this awareness and educational effort.

PLEASE help us raise the funds needed to get this board up, NOW.

You can click HERE to donate securely online to the campaign - Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization & all donations are tax deductible. Please be sure to note WY Billboard in designation box or you may help us by sending a donation to:

Please be sure to designate WYOMING Billboard on your donation.

Have a great weekend ahead and THANK YOU for helping us spread the word,

Abandoned Geldings in Michigan Update!

Update on the 2 Abandoned Geldings currently in Michigan with foster mom Nicola!

They are recovering well and will be brought into the main rescue late this month or early next month. These are the 2 newest pictures of them....eating well, and gaining weight slowly. The bay geldings HORRIFIC fur / skin condition has been see by the vet and Nicola is caring and bathing him as directed by vet (with prescribed meds)...he is doing well.

Their feet were in deplorable condition and they have been taken care of by the farrier and will be seen again before they leave for Angel Acres.

Nicola has offered to drive them the 10 hours to our rescue to save on costs as their total cost will be quite high...we are $432 away from the original goal we set for them when they arrived in foster care (we estimate the total rehab, retraining and rehoming to be double the initial cost upon arrival)...if you remember or saw the original blog posts - these two geldings were SUPPOSED to be in great condition which was so NOT the case...ORIGINAL POST HERE.

Their second update is HERE...

Please share and spread the word! They are both very sweet and kind and sound and we are sure will be anxious to get new families!

Angel Acres

Hay, We Need It!

Thank you ASPCA - Our Hay Building is UP!

hay building

Our press release is below, we wanted to share it with you as soon as we could!! YEA!!!! SUPER DUPER big thanks to the ASPCA for making this much needed building possible for us!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 7, 2011 (Glenville, Pa.)- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (the ASPCA) granted Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue Inc. funds specifically for a hay storage building. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world.

“ We are so excited to have received this grant from The ASPCA! Our new hay building is in place and already hard at work keeping our hay safe and dry. We truly cannot express how grateful we are to The ASPCA for this grant.” said Jo Deibel, Founder and President of Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue.

Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue saves horses bound for slaughter for human consumption and assists in cases of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Founded in 2004 by Jo Deibel Angel Acres is a 501c3 non profit organization chartered by the State of Pennsylvania.

A flagship program of Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue is Mattie’s Legacy Fund. Funds are used to save horses from slaughter and to assist local horse owners that are in immediate need of assistance with grain, hay or farrier care. Angel Acres is a GFAS (Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries) Accredited facility. For more information on the ASPCA go to www.aspca.org or on Angel Acres go towww.saveahorsenow.org

Final Angel Acres Hay Drive Push! Please Share!

Angel Acres

Hay, We Need It!

Happy Sunday from Glenville, PA!

donate to angel acresThis is it! Our FINAL end of season push for hay!!

PLEASE help if you can - we need to finish out our fundraising goal for 2011's hay needs. Hay is THE #1 expense for an average horse rescue or sanctuary! Remember NO donation is too small!

Hay can literally mean the difference between life and death for a horse. Starving horses need it to begin their recovery after rescue, healthy horses need it to maintain good health and even older horses who may get senior feed need hay too.

If we could have one wish, it would be for the hay fairy to bring us a big ole load of hay! But, since we don't have an in with the hay fairy, we are asking the Angel Acres Gang to consider making a donation - no amount is too small or too large - to help us get this seasons hay!

How Important Is It Really?

Your donation of as little as $10 can help us get the hay we need for the season, helping us to make the life of a once slaughter bound, neglected or abused horse just a little bit brighter.

The horses at Angel Acres know EXACTLY when breakfast, lunch, midday snacks and dinner are served and boy oh boy do they let us know if we are late!!! Help us keep these ladies and gentleman happy and healthy and make a donation to our hay fund today!

Also...if you have extra hay from last season and would like to donate it to our gang, please email me and we can arrange to have it picked up quickly!

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and please share with others and help us get the word out about our hay drive!

Have a super happy week ahead,,

We NEED your labels!! Read on...

Happy Friday!

My goal for the feed label program is aggressive I know, however with everyone saving the proof of purchase labels we can actually hit it! How wonderful it would be to provide funds desperately needed to assist Angel Acres with a new used tractor to pull the manure spreader and man the snow plowing during the winter!
So, I am appealing to one & all.. Please get me your Triple Crown, Legends and Southern States Proof of Purchase labels asap. My closing date is June 30th to have all labels counted and mailed in so we can request our check for the year. We will be doing this program again next year however let's close out this year BIG for the horses at Angel Acres.
Mail your labels to me Fran Burns 2616 Monkton Rd. Monkton MD 21111 and mark feed labels on the front of the envelope...
Thanks so much for all of your support!!
