URGENT - Assistance Needed For Abandoned / Surrendered Horses

We have been asked to assist with 2 horses in need.

The person who asked for our help has gone WAY above the call of duty for these two super kind horses...Short story - she agreed to board the 2 horses for "1 week" back in April of 2011...

Fast forward 10 months, & nearly $2,000 in board owed later - they were basically abandoned at the farm - the horses were finally surrendered to her.

Angel Acres has covered the hay and grain for this month via Mattie's Legacy Fund.

Normally, we would simply not say anything & go about our merry way of placing them...but this situation is different, and we need your help.

The horses are a 44 year old (seriously, not kidding) sound and healthy mare & the other mare is completely blind but is sound to ride and her previous owner has ridden her all over the place.

We are hoping to find a home that can handle a blind mare and the older mare. The older mare is completely sound and is the blind mare's wingman (wing-girl?) so we must keep them together.

The other option is that we find sponsors for them and allow them to live at the farm in peace.

We are hoping you can help by giving a donation, a sponsorship or possibly a home. Or simply sharing this blog post and help us spread the word about these two sweet girls and possibly find a sanctuary for them.

Angel Acres Needs Help Raising Canadian Billboard

Help Get Our Billboard Up in Canada! You may have heard that Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter billboards are up around the country, now we have the opportunity to put a billboard in Canada! Thousands of American horses are shipped to Canada to be slaughtered each year - for a few dollars our horses are subjected to unspeakable horror and pain. How could this be happening when millions of Americans are opposed to horse slaughter? WHY are our horses being shipped across the border to be brutally slaughtered to feed foreign consumers? Simple, the pro slaughter lobby is a well funded machine thriving on the blood money of the accidental industry of brutality and horror - horse slaughter. Proganda like this United Horsemen newsletter have helped allow this atrocity to occur. (See my reply to their original email to Angel Acres and their "rescue plans" - HERE.) In my opinion, they have been able to package horse slaughter to the non horse savvy public to appear as a public service that benefits horses and provides a service to horse owners. Horses suffer at every step of the process - from transport to killing floor - many anti slaughter websites have undercover video of the horrors & inhumane treatment taking place at slaughter plants in Canada and Mexico. We have been watching the hits to the billboards companion website Stop Slaughtering US increase DAILY everywhere there is a billboard up! Horse slaughter is NOT harvesting, processing, rendering; it is horrifically and brutally slaughtering innocent horses who have given their lives (in more cases than not) for their owners. The Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter Awareness Campaign is a grassroots effort designed to change that, one driver and one billboard at a time. This one is URGENT - PLEASE HELP by DONATING today! Christmas Eve News - It's All About Grace! December 24, 2011 - Glenville, PA Christmas Eve at Angel Acres, not a creature was stirring not even...um, ok, wrong story line! Things are as crazy and hectic as ever at Angel Acres...hence the reason we're sending you this quick note. Remember Grace - here story is HERE - the photo immediately below is on her rescue day...scroll down to see her 30 day - Christmas Eve - update!!! The photo below is from today, Christmas Eve, after exactly 30 days at our Foster Mom Clare's facility (she was in quarantine at animal control for 4 weeks prior to her arrival at the rescue) where she was quickly accepted into the herd; a testament to her lovely personality and kind soul.
