We have just 2 days to go in our billboard campaign challenge fundraiser on Global Giving - you have pushed over our goal and we will be able to get about 10* billboards up around the nation! Woo Hoo!! We are the ONLY horse rescue in the challenge, the ONLY animal charity in the Top 40 charities, have THE MOST facebook shares (we get a bonus for that), we are on the 1st page of "most popular projects" and you have moved us up to 4th place out of the 200 charities in the challenge!! Please consider a donation to our efforts to help raise awareness about horse slaughter - we can't do it without support from the horse and animal loving community...we still need your support for a big ending (we would LOVE to finish in the Top 3) and.... Channel 6 In Richmond Airs Our Billboard Story!! As you may know, Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter Billboard Campaign was accepted by the Global Giving website - a HUGE boost to our horse slaughter awareness efforts. We need to complete our fundraising goal to secure a permanent spot on the Global Giving site. We have 21 days to raise the remaining amount needed, $1535. To be called a tree hugging pinko commy group...simply because we believe that horse slaughter is a brutal, horrific fate NO horse should face. Task Force in NH Working To Raise Billboard!

Angel Acres Anti Horse Slaughter Awareness Billboard Campaign This nationwide campaign is working to raise awareness about the inhumane slaughter of America’s beloved horses through billboard raising. The campaign began in January, 2011 and as a result, billboards have been raised in 14 states. You can help! Please attend the New Hampshire Against Horse Slaughter “Stop Slaughtering Us” Billboard Task Force for a fundraising event on Sunday, July 24. The fundraiser will take place at Uno Chicago Grill, 238 Indian Brook Drive, Dover, NH. 20% of all sales will go towards an anti horse slaughter billboard in New Hampshire. Note: You must present a ticket in order for Uno to make this donation. To receive a ticket, simply email EHardiman678@hotmail.com. Horse Slaughter FYI MYTH: Only sick and old horses are sent to slaughter. FACT: A U.S. Dept of Agriculture study revealed that more than 92% of horses going to slaughter are healthy. MYTH: Horse slaughter is like being "put down". FACT: Horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia. Each year over 100,000 healthy, sound, sane horses are shipped to Mexico and Canada to be brutally slaughtered. These horses travel over 30 hours in horrific conditions, deprived of food, water and rest. The slaughter process includes being hit repeatedly in the forehead with a captive bolt, strung up by their hind legs, and having their throats slit to bleed them out. Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA Anti Horse Slaughter Billboards Going UP!

Just wanted to post an update that the Florida board has been ordered and is line to be posted shortly...

In the mean time, another animal welfare group who wishes to simply have the board dedicated to horses that have gone to slaughter, has sponsored the entire cost for 2 billboards! One is going up in Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA!

This is so incredibly generous of them and extremely important to our efforts. Richmond is a HUGE market and literally thousands upon thousands of people will see this board...

The sponsor has covered both costs as they were above our normal budget for the billboard campaign....

The board in Philly, PA, taken by Angel Acres Gang member, Robin is pictured above...ALL future billboards will be the newer black background as it REALLY helps to hit home the message! Florida and KY will be black backgrounds and we will post a picture as soon as they are up.

Some pro slaughter folks have asked us WHY we are spending money that could be spent on the horses on this billboard campaign - ONLY funds designated for the billboards are being used for this educational campaign.

In order for horse slaughter to stop the American public needs to know it is going on. That is the NUMBER #1 reason we are doing it so people become aware, visit the website and learn how they can help stop it!

I was not even contacted for the article or was aware of it till one of our readers sent it to me and I have to agree with Brittany...totally uncool to use our name without even contacting us first.

I have offered to debate Sue Wallis, Senator Tyson Larson and have contacted the author of the article - no replies from any of them. Wonder why? hhhmmmm...
