Can You Help Us May 28, 2011 - Glenville, PA You wouldn't believe what happened today...wait, let me back up, if you know us, you might! Three weeks ago Greg used the tractor to dump the manure spreader, a normal everyday thing, but this time, while on his way back to the rescue one of the gigantic 400lb rear tires came off WHILE he was driving, took out the neighbors fence and basically scared the daylights out of him! (lots happened but we don't want to take up oodles of your time) Fast forward to today - Greg after, A LOT of work, got the tractor tire back on and the tractor running again - he dumped 2 loads of manure, took a 5 minute break before going back to work, got back on the tractor and turned the key - this time the tractor LITERALLY blew up and caught fire! Flames were shooting up past the steering wheel and then engulfing the engine. I saw it myself and started yelling, "get off the tractor, get off the tractor!" He jumped off the tractor, grabbed a fire extinguisher from the barn and put out the fire. Thankfully, he is ok, having only some burnt leg hairs, and a now paranoid wife who won't let him start the tractor! I made a few calls (and yes for those of you wondering, I did manage to get ONE shot of the tractor on fire before he put it out lol) and have some good news and hoping you can help us.
We have an Angel who will help us get a replacement tractor - the lower end of what we need runs about $10,000 - by matching any funds we can raise during the next two weeks!!! That means your donation is doubled - $10 would be $20 - $20 would be $40 - etc!! We use a tractor almost every day for dumping manure, dragging fields, plowing snow, and the tons of other "man stuff" my husband does with it. It is an absolute necessity for any horse rescue to have an operational tractor, doesn't have to be pretty or cute, just has to run and not blow up and catch on fire when you turn the key...lol... Due to the fact that our tractor is more than 60 years old, is fixed and repaired almost daily and now has become a health hazard we are asking everyone to please share this email and donate if you can. We receive no federal, state or corporate funding. We rely on donations, fundraisers, grants, etc.
PLEASE help us raise the funds needed to get a replacement tractor & help keep Greg safe ;o) You can click HERE to donate securely online - please note TRACTOR FUND in the designation box. All donations are tax deductible...AND if you happen have a spare tractor just laying around and would like to donate it - please let us know!
