Anti Horse Slaughter Billboards

Glenville, PA - Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue (www.saveahorsenow.org) is pleased to announce that the newest billboard in their campaign to educate the U.S. public about horse slaughter has gone up in Oklahoma City, OK. The billboard guides the reader to its companion websitewww.stopslaughteringus.com which provides up to date factual information regarding horse slaughter.

According to the USDA, exactly 133,241 U.S. horses were sent to slaughter last year. These horses are transported to Mexico and Canada in double decker trailers for slaughter and the meat is shipped to Europe for human consumption. This board was sponsored by Simone Netherlands, Director of Respect 4 horses, in cooperation with the Documentary Saving Americas Horses and Wild Horse Freedom Federation.

“Good riddance,” says Simone Netherlands. “We collectively suggest that they take their deceptive name, their deceptive propaganda and their deceptive agenda far away and go pretend that they care about horses and horse people somewhere else.”

The interactive Summit of the Live Horse Press Conference will be broadcast on Ustream.tv, 12 noon CDT April 3, 2012. This is the link where you can log into the live broadcast: Ustream.tv/channel/Respect4Horses It will also be available atwww.Respect4Horses.com

Jo Deibel, Founder and Director of Angel Acres, noted “We are thrilled to have this board sponsored by several boots on the ground horse advocates. All are working towards the common goal of exposing the dirty business of horse slaughter to the American public. No matter what pro slaughter folks call it i.e. rendering, processing, harvesting or whatever sanitized word they choose to use, Horse Slaughter Is NOT Humane Euthanasia.”

URGENT - Assistance Needed For Abandoned / Surrendered Horses

We have been asked to assist with 2 horses in need.

The person who asked for our help has gone WAY above the call of duty for these two super kind horses...Short story - she agreed to board the 2 horses for "1 week" back in April of 2011...

Fast forward 10 months, & nearly $2,000 in board owed later - they were basically abandoned at the farm - the horses were finally surrendered to her.

See their pages on the website - Hershey's Page and J.J.'s Page.

Angel Acres has covered the hay and grain for this month via Mattie's Legacy Fund.

Normally, we would simply not say anything & go about our merry way of placing them...but this situation is different, and we need your help.

The horses are a 44 year old (seriously, not kidding) sound and healthy mare & the other mare is completely blind but is sound to ride and her previous owner has ridden her all over the place.

We are hoping to find a home that can handle a blind mare and the older mare. The older mare is completely sound and is the blind mare's wingman (wing-girl?) so we must keep them together.

The other option is that we find sponsors for them and allow them to live at the farm in peace.

We are hoping you can help by giving a donation, a sponsorship or possibly a home. Or simply sharing this blog post and help us spread the word about these two sweet girls and possibly find a sanctuary for them.

Thank you for taking the time read this post!

Cee Cee & Leslie Happy Update!

Cee Cee was purchased by Kelly, a friend of Angel Acres, from the New Holland sale almost 3 years ago (site unseen she had gotten a call from the sale from a "friend" who told her about the mare).

The mare was supposed to be a "polo pony" in "great shape". Instead, she showed up in poor condition, overgrown mane & feet and with wounds on her body.

Kelly then called me a few weeks later, and told me the story - and asked if we could help find her a great home.

We agreed.

She went to Amy for foster training, then came back to Angel Acres for adoption.

Fast forward to today...this is Leslie and Cee Cee last month. Cee Cee was adopted out under the Angel Acres Dollar Program. There is no greater joy for a rescue then to get happy horse updates from our adopters!

Big hugs to Leslie for giving Cee Cee a happy new life!

THANK YOU EVERYONE! Pops The Mustang Is Now SAFE!

You may remember Pops The Mustangs' urgent situation - click HERE to read his original story.

He was in dire need of being rescued quickly. We posted that we needed help to get him to safety and lots of folks donated to get his transportation covered.

3 weeks ago the folks that agreed to take him went to go pick him up...it did not go well. They spent over 2 hours trying to get him onto the trailer (basically he kept running into the woods).

Things went differently today, Carol - the fantastic lady who basically did all the leg work to get him into a mustang sanctuary - called a little while ago and left me a message that he was on the trailer (not happy about it, lol) but nonetheless on the trailer and headed to start his new life!!!

THANK YOU to everyone for your help with this sweet guy!! We cannot do what we do with you!
