Delaware Billboards - PLEASE Help Us Get These UP!

Good Morning Gang,

Pat Boyer is sponsoring one of the Delaware boards! YEA!!!

Pat has been supporting our billboard efforts right from the beginning...you may remember Pat is the fantastically kind lady who allowed us to store nearly 3000 bales of donated hay in her barn, came and got us when the tire literally rolled off the rescue truck while we were bringing the hay back to her place and basically rounded up help for us to get the to her place and on and on and on...her help and support has been unwavering.

She has been doing matches for fundraising for the different boards around the country and now she is offering to sponsor one of the Delaware boards! I just do not even know what to say to her - I have learned not to argue with her and just say thank you! LOL.

So, PLEASE consider making a donation by clicking HERE - no amount is too small or too large - we need to raise the remaining $275 to get this board up on Routes 4 and 273 in Delaware. Be sure to note "delaware #1" in the note area so it gets applied to this board.

We also are looking for a sponsor for the 2nd billboard in Delaware. Please click HERE if you are interested in sponsoring this board.

PLEASE SHARE OUR BLOG, TOO :o)

Dalley Donates Birthday To Angel Acres Velvet-Nosed Gang!

Super Duper Big Thanks to Dalley, a wonderful young lady from Texas!

Dalley wanted to help horses for her birthday last month...her mom contacted us and told us what she wanted to do. We were just floored that someone so young (she's still in the single digits) wanted to do something so kind, generous and compassionate.

She asked her family and friends to donate to the Angel Acres gang. As a thank you to her, we sent her a birthday basket from the velvet-nosed gang...and she sent us an adorable, hand made thank you card!!

(I have to double and triple check my 20 something kids to make sure they have sent their ty cards for gifts they receive!)

She is an amazing little girl...and she drew the picture below, it is of Mattie...which actually choked me up a bit...as I realized that Mattie's Legacy really IS living on...even in the heart of a little girl in Texas who never got the chance to meet him....and the kindness this little girl has showed our gang has allowed us to help 2 more horses via Mattie's Legacy Fund...

Thank you Dalley and Tana (Dalleys' Mom) and all of her family and friends who made Dalleys birthday wish come true and help 2 families in dire need of assistance at the same time...sorry Mastercard but I gotta say it...PRICELESS!

Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA Anti Horse Slaughter Billboards Going UP!

Just wanted to post an update that the Florida board has been ordered and is line to be posted shortly...

In the mean time, another animal welfare group who wishes to simply have the board dedicated to horses that have gone to slaughter, has sponsored the entire cost for 2 billboards! One is going up in Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA!

This is so incredibly generous of them and extremely important to our efforts. Richmond is a HUGE market and literally thousands upon thousands of people will see this board...

The sponsor has covered both costs as they were above our normal budget for the billboard campaign....

The board in Philly, PA, taken by Angel Acres Gang member, Robin is pictured above...ALL future billboards will be the newer black background as it REALLY helps to hit home the message! Florida and KY will be black backgrounds and we will post a picture as soon as they are up.

Help us get more boards up around the country!

Click HERE to learn more and you can click HERE to make a donation to the billboard campaign.

Our billboard campaign is incredibly important - People cannot fix a problem they are now aware of...help us raise awareness, today!!

Angel Acres Newsletter- Hay, We Need It!

Angel Acres

Hay, We Need It!

Greetings,

donate to angel acres Do you ever wonder what the number one expense for an average horse rescue or sanctuary is? Do you wonder what is the single most important thing in a horses diet? Well, they are one in the same...good quality HAY!

Hay can literally mean the difference between life and death for a horse. Starving horses need it to begin their recovery after rescue, healthy horses need it to maintain good health and even older horses who may get senior feed need hay too.

If we could have one wish, it would be for the hay fairy to bring us a big ole load of hay! But, since we don't have an in with the hay fairy, we are asking the Angel Acres Gang to consider making a donation - no amount is too small or too large - to help us get this seasons hay!

How Important Is It Really?

Crockets story is one of heart wrenching sadness, yet with a happy ending - he nearly died because he didn't get the hay he so desperately needed. Now on the road to recovery, you can read his original story here at - Crocket's Rescue Day link and his updated story is here. Had he been given hay by those responsible for caring for him, he would have never ended up at death's door needing emergency rescue.

Your donation of as little as $10 can help us get the hay we need for the season, helping us to make the life of a once slaughter bound, neglected or abused horse just a little bit brighter.

The horses at Angel Acres know EXACTLY when breakfast, lunch, midday snacks and dinner are served and boy oh boy do they let us know if we are late!!! Help us keep these ladies and gentleman happy and healthy and make a donation to our hay fund today!

Also...if you have extra hay from last season and would like to donate it to our gang, please email me and we can arrange to have it picked up quickly!

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and please share with others and help us get the word out about our hay drive!

Have a super happy weekend,

Crocket Arrives At Angel Acres!

Crocket arrived at Angel Acres today!

He is the Saddlebred gelding that was rescued from starvation in West Virginia in November of 2010. He was too weak to make the long trip into the rescue at that time.

He was able to live with foster mom Deanne and her family for the past 3 months to recover.

That allowed him time to begin the long road to recovery for this sweet boy. We will keep you posted on his progress with monthly updates.

His own webpage is being built this weekend and we will be sure to post the link to it here and in our weekly newsletter.

Read his original rescue story here.

SUPER BIG THANKS TO ANN M and JOE R - who were EXTREMELY instrumental in getting Crocket safe and getting him into Angel Acres!

2 Thoroughbreds in Westminister, MD Need Homes ASAP!

EXTREMELY URGENT!

Two horses are (last of the Benray horses - owner died) in dire need of homes...there have been a total of 16 placed - all doing well in their new situations...we think these two have a ton of potential...they are green broke.

This mare and gelding ONLY have till this SUNDAY - March 6 or they will be euthanized NOT sent to auction or slaughter, but humanely euthanized. We would look to see them get homes instead of that happening.

We do NOT have these horses...they are located in Westminster, MD and are being placed via MidAtlantic Horse Rescue - (we were asked to help get the word out) -both sound and each has been ridden about a dozen times. They will need to be reschooled but .

Both are very sweet, just not handled a bunch, both are 4 years old and both are sound and they have their papers.

Frans Ben - gelding, about 15.2-3, cribs

Rachels Lady - mare, about 15.3h no vices

If you can help PLEASE EMAIL by clicking HERE - you will be contacting Bev Strauss at MidAtlantic Horse Rescue.

VET REFERENCES REQUIRED - professional hauling HIGHLY recommeneded.

PLEASE SHARE THIS BLOG POST & help these horses get new homes.
AGAIN - please EMAIL BEV by clicking HERE.
