We need YOUR Creative PHOTOS for our Text Video!
Hey Gang!
Our volunteers Lauren and Johanna had a FANTASTIC IDEA - how to get the word out about our texting fund raiser - by spelling it out in unique and crazy ways and then putting those photos into a video montage.
We are working on our Text To Donate video for our fall fundraiser...we are hoping to raise funds for Mattie's Legacy Fund - please send us your pictures of your creative ways to spell out -
Text HORSE to 85944 to DONATE $10
You can include the entire phrase above or just Text HORSE to 85944
Some of the ideas we are working on (and please feel to use these in your own way and please help us by coming up with other crazy, fun ways) are...
Macaroni noodles on a plate, post it notes on the barn, body paint (we will need volunteers for this one, call me) or poster border being held up by people...baling twine on hay bales, chalk on pavement, flower tops on pavement/background - carrots spelling it out and lots more!
Just put your ideas put into action and take a photo and/or video clip and email to us at angelacreshorsehaven@yahoo.com
PLEASE SEND US YOUR PHOTOS BY AUGUST 6th, 2010!
(example above is with paper clips on black glass)

Corie & Carter - Coincidence or Fate? You Decide :o)
We got a call from one of the girls from the FLTAP about a horse in trouble at a local track. A super, sweet, kind, big gelding that needed out ASAP or would be headed to kill ...oddly enough...we had JUST received an email from Corie, she was looking for a big gelding to bring along and school.
Lil background :o) ...
Corie has been INCREDIBLY helpful to us with one horse in particular that was, well, not in the best circumstances and to make a long story short - she stepped up to the plate for a horse on our behalf, behind the scenes and made a nice happy ending for him!!
Anyhoo...Corie sends email, I am like...wow, I don't have anyone like that...well, it couldn't have been an hour later that I receive the call from FLTAP and it was like Priscilla (FLTAP contact) had read Corie's letter and made him special order for her!!
So, I call Corie; she agrees to make the drive to check him out, I told her, he might be what you are looking for and maybe not, I didn't want to waste her time. She told us that we were not wasting her time and if he wasn't for her she would happily foster him for us until we had room. How totally awesome of her...btw...his barn name is Carter.
Well...as you can see from picture...he is doing well with Corie...she is fostering him for 3 months and then will decide whether or not to become an Angel Acres Foster Failure - we sure hope she does!!!
If not, she will have donated her time, energy and his expenses to Angel Acres and this sweet boy and we will then find him a fabulous home.
SUPER DUPER BIG THANKS TO CORIE and PRISCILLA FROM FLTAP!

Saved By A Pair of Sandals....but only for a day or two!
I got to meet a few of our readers and friends whilst there today...I am SO sorry I didn't get to say bye to everyone...it was kind of crazy (ok, I had no hat, no water, the wrong sunglasses and YES I wore sandals - more on that in a minute) and I was feeling a bit woozy so we went to get something to drink and I didn't get to say bye...ugh!!! I am so sorry!!!
But...looks like I may be back on Saturday to help groom up some of the rescues!
Finally, the sandals...I have a TERRIBLE habit of going in and loving on anything equine and that usually ends with "oh, we can take (insert name) and help place (insert name)"...ssssoooooo...I thought, hhhmmmm...if I wear my non horsey, non manure covered sandals I will have to stay out of the fields and just visit over the fence! But, gosh dernit I found some I found totally adorable anyway!!
Which means on Saturday, there will be no sandals and I am sure Angel Acres will be snagging a few of these guys and retraining and rehoming them in the very near future! We will, as always, keep you posted!!
Have a great night everyone :o)

TOTALLY AWESOME THANK YOU ASHLEY!
'
I am an amateur artist in Bucks County, PA. Horses have been a life-long love of mine, though I've never had the option of having one. I am currently working on a horse themed set of ACEOs (art card editions and originals), and had the thought of, when I'm finished with the project, providing a portion of the sales to Angel Acres. The cards are about 2.5" x3.5", so slightly larger than a business card, or the size of a regular trading card, like a baseball card. I have a total of 20 in this group, all horses, and I just need to color in the last 10.
I am writing to ask about the eBay Spotlight on helping animals. I want to sell these ACEOs as easily and safely as possible, and I want to minimize the chance of a donation either getting lost in the mail, or you missing out on funds from fees.
I hope you and everyone at the rescue are doing well. I want to be able to come visit someday! :)
Link to these ADORABLE items!!! All hand made by Ashley!!! YOU MUST see these...they are adorable!

A Public Apology From Me & A Lesson For Others...
I felt that I would NEVER be fooled...well...I am here to tell you that I was wrong (don't tell my husband, good lord lol).
Many of you probably remember the poem about the little girl and why she had horses...posted, here on this blog, at the beginning of June. It is a beautiful, wonderfully written poem, authored by Tracy Meisenbach.
Last night I saw a post on our fb page asking me why I was using her copyrighted material?! I was like "what, are you kidding me?" I had thought I had credited her properly and since it was emailed, assumed (and you all know what happens when you assume something, ugh) that it was ok to post.
So, thinking she didn't want her poem used without permission I removed it from this blog and apologized to her profusely...hoping she would except my apology and asking to purchase the article, as it was that lovely.
But, then, it got worse...what I didn't know until her next email, is not only had I posted her poem, but the version I posted from the email I had received was a stolen version!!
Someone had stolen Tracy's material (changed/altered it) and passed it off as their own...I was so sick over it, I threw my dinner in the trash and emailed her again immediately and asked her what I could do to make up for my huge blunder.. Tracy was very nice and kind to me...
This was Tracy's response, "Jo, simply post on your blog, website and any other pages that passing along material without the author's permission is theft. It takes money away from them, it abuses their trust and it makes the horse industry look bad."
To my readers: I am aghast that this has happened and I will NEVER post another article emailed to me without verifying it first, you have my word.
To Tracy Meisenbach: I am truly, truly sorry that your beautiful work was stolen and passed off as someone elses and I am very, very sorry that I unintentionally reposted it here on our blog without checking with you.
I hope my readers will share and spread the word...VERIFY INFO BEFORE POSTING that you receive via email!!!
